A cross section of management staff of the FIU met with people in the hospitality business sector at the LAGOONDA HOTEL ABERDEEN, on the 27th August 2020.

The discussion centered around the circulation of fake United States dollars and how to prevent it.

The Director, David N. Borbor, in his keynote speech calls on the support of the general public especially those in the hospitality industry such as lodging, food and drink services, hotels, restaurants, bars etc. to help the Financial Intelligence Unit with any information regarding anyone that is suspected or involved in transacting and/or circulating fake United States Currency in Sierra Leone.

He also encouraged those businesses to assist the FIU in the fight against Money Laundering and Terrorists Financing as their businesses can only be productive if the financial system of Sierra Leone is free from criminals.

“Anyone with information should contact the Financial Intelligence Unit at No. 5H Bayoh Drive, Tengbeh Town, Freetown; or call on +232-78-143-105 or via email: info@fiu.gov.sl”.
